Riding back to Superfad from lunch in Culver City I noticed this awesome anachronism. I went in to visit, and sure enough, the Cartoon Colour Co. still makes paints to use on acetate cels for animation. They started in 1947 making different shades of grey. Naturally they then moved on to colour. In the understatement of the year, Van explains “there’s a fair few less customers now”. Their paints are still used to restore cels from old animations and by a bunch of cel paint devotees / obsessive weirdos (hi matt).
5 Month Sabbatical LogI'm on a working sabbatical from the good ship Sixty40. It's part of our attempt to invest in creative development and meet good people around the world. I'll be working and creating art around the world while I travel with the family.
